How do you craft a netherite ingot in Minecraft?
Getting the Materials
Netherite scraps come from smelting ancient debris in a furnace or blast furnace. Ancient debris is found in the Nether, mostly at Y-levels 8–22, and is rare—expect to mine a lot of netherrack. Each ancient debris smelts into one netherite scrap.
Gold ingots are easy to get by mining gold ore in the Nether or Overworld. You need 4 gold ingots per ingot, so gather at least that many.
- Ancient debris → netherite scrap in a furnace
- Ancient debris found in Nether at Y=8–22
- 4 gold ingots needed
- Gold from Nether or Overworld
Crafting the Ingot
Once you have 4 netherite scraps and 4 gold ingots, open a crafting table. Place the 4 scraps and 4 gold ingots in any order in the 3x3 grid—the recipe is shapeless. The result is one netherite ingot.
Netherite ingots are used to upgrade diamond gear to netherite at a smithing table, and to craft a lodestone. You'll need one ingot per piece of gear you want to upgrade.
- 4 netherite scraps + 4 gold ingots
- Shapeless recipe—any arrangement works
- Used for smithing table upgrades
- Also crafts lodestone
Common mistakes
- Trying to craft netherite ingots from netherite scrap alone—you must add gold ingots.
- Mining for ancient debris at the wrong Y-level—it's most common between Y=8 and 22.
- Forgetting you need a smithing table to upgrade gear—netherite ingots alone won't do it.
