What is the best order to fight bosses in Terraria?

Updated October 2026 · How we answer

Short answerA common progression is: King Slime, Eye of Cthulhu, Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu, Skeletron, Queen Bee, Wall of Flesh, then hardmode bosses: Destroyer, Twins, Skeletron Prime, Plantera, Golem, Duke Fishron, Lunatic Cultist, Moon Lord.

Pre-Hardmode Boss Order

Start with King Slime (optional but easy) or Eye of Cthulhu. Then fight the Eater of Worlds (Corruption) or Brain of Cthulhu (Crimson), followed by Skeletron to access the Dungeon. Queen Bee is optional but gives useful loot.

After that, explore the Underworld and fight the Wall of Flesh to enter Hardmode. This order ensures you have decent gear and health.

  • King Slime (optional)
  • Eye of Cthulhu
  • Eater of Worlds / Brain of Cthulhu
  • Skeletron
  • Queen Bee (optional)
  • Wall of Flesh

Hardmode Boss Order

In Hardmode, the mechanical bosses are next: The Destroyer, The Twins, and Skeletron Prime (any order, but Destroyer is often first). Then fight Plantera in the Underground Jungle, followed by Golem in the Jungle Temple.

After Golem, you can fight Duke Fishron (optional but hard), then the Lunatic Cultist, and finally the Moon Lord. Empress of Light is also optional and can be fought anytime in Hardmode.

  • The Destroyer
  • The Twins
  • Skeletron Prime
  • Plantera
  • Golem
  • Duke Fishron (optional)
  • Lunatic Cultist
  • Moon Lord

Common mistakes

  • Fighting bosses out of order, like trying Skeletron before Eye of Cthulhu, which can be very difficult.
  • Skipping optional bosses like Queen Bee or Duke Fishron and missing out on useful gear.
  • Summoning Wall of Flesh too early without proper preparation, leading to a quick death.
