What is the best way to get souls of light in Terraria?
Where and How to Farm
Souls of Light drop from enemies in the Underground Hallow biome in Hardmode. You need to be in the Cavern layer (below the surface) for them to drop.
Common enemies that drop them include Chaos Elementals, Illuminant Bats, Illuminant Slimes, and Gastropods. The drop rate is about 20% (1 in 5) for most enemies.
To farm efficiently, build a farm in the Underground Hallow with a flat area, place water candles, and use battle potions to increase spawn rates. You can also use a Slime Staff or minions to kill enemies automatically.
- Underground Hallow in Hardmode.
- Kill Chaos Elementals, Illuminant Bats, etc.
- Drop rate ~20% per enemy.
- Use Water Candle and Battle Potion for faster spawns.
Tips for Efficient Farming
Create a small box with a hole to stand in and use a weapon that pierces or hits multiple enemies, like the Daedalus Stormbow with Holy Arrows or a Nimbus Rod.
If you're lucky, you can also get Souls of Light from the Wall of Flesh in Hardmode, but only if you're in the Hallow when it's defeated. However, this is not reliable.
Another method is to use a Slime Crown to summon King Slime in the Hallow, but he doesn't drop Souls of Light. Stick to enemy farming.
- Use piercing weapons for multiple kills.
- Place a Water Candle and use Battle Potion.
- Consider using minions for AFK farming.
- Souls of Light are used for crafting keys, weapons, and summon items.
Common mistakes
- Souls of Light do not drop in the surface Hallow; you must be in the Underground Hallow (Cavern layer).
- They only drop in Hardmode; in pre-Hardmode, you won't get any.
- Using a Water Candle in the Hallow does not increase drop rate, only spawn rate.
